The grapes come exclusively from the Montesprello vineyard, the highest of the Berganzina. Its defining trait, beyond the composition of the soil, is the abundance of stones, which keeps the vines' yield remarkably low: barely 60 quintals per hectare even in the most generous years.
The exceptional quality of the fruit allows for extremely long macerations, up to 55/60 days. After an initial maturation in concrete, the wine rests in large wooden casks for twelve months.
