Villa Barattieri

An eighteenth-century residence overlooking the hills of the Val Nure, where every detail tells almost three centuries of history.

Food, nature & wine in the countryside of Piacenza

The History

The eighteenth century,
still lived in today

The origins of the complex date back to the late seventeenth century, when Albarola was still called Ponte Albarola and the area was home to a large agricultural estate of the Jesuits. The present villa was born in 1704, when Trevani entrusted its design to Sartorio; with the marriage between Count Alberico Barattieri and Maria Trevani, in 1796, the residence entered the history of the family. It has never ceased to be lived in since.

Beyond the portal you find the frescoed gallery, the inner courtyard, a true open-air drawing room, and the garden laid out on several levels, sloping down towards the vineyards.

  1. 1600s

At Ponte Albarola stands a large agricultural estate of the Jesuits, later divided by the Ducal Chamber of Parma and Piacenza.

  2. 1704

Trevani entrusts Sartorio with the design of the new residence: the present villa is born.

  3. 1796

Count Alberico Barattieri marries Maria Trevani: the villa and the Albarola estate enter the history of the Barattieri counts.

  4. 1824

Under the roofs of the estate the first documented Vin Santo is born: the Villa is also the productive heart of the winery.

  5. Today

For over fifteen years the Villa has opened its doors to weddings, private dinners, corporate events, exhibitions and tours.

Hospitality

A home, not an events venue

«The villa is not simply hired for an event. It is lived.»

For over fifteen years the family has been opening the doors of the residence: weddings and ceremonies, private dinners, corporate events, exhibitions and cultural initiatives. There is no single model of event: each occasion is built around the nature of the house, the number of guests and the experience you wish to create.

The Spaces

The courtyard, the garden, the frescoed gallery

Beyond the portal, the inner courtyard is a true open-air drawing room: it hosts aperitifs, tastings and dinners under the stars, while the frescoed gallery welcomes private tables and indoor receptions.

The garden, laid out on several levels, slopes down towards the vineyards among the century-old trees of the park. And beneath the residence, the historic cellars open up for tours and tastings.
